A near-black fill on warm paper read as stark. The guide's own hover specimen was the resting control I actually wanted, and the change had to land in the guide, the package, and the parity test at once.

A recording that cancelled itself five seconds in looked like a dead mic. It was a half-second health check reading normal AUHAL warm-up as a stall.
